- Understanding the relationship between market forces and the development of cities and regions
- Understanding the implications of central place theory for cities and regions
- Understanding the relationship between basic and non-basic sector of the local economy
- Understanding the use of location quotient analysis and shift-share analysis
- Understanding the implications of bid-rent theory for land use patterns in cities and regions
Course Description:
A survey of the economic structure and problems of urban areas on both the microeconomic and macroeconomic levels. Stresses the application of regional economic analysis in the study of urban areas as economic regions.
